Dear All,

As your semester exams are close to the finishing line, I wish you all the best with the results of your 1st semester academic studies.

I would like to inform you that I have graded your exam papers and worked on your overall grades for the semester regarding the English for Computer Science Course. Although you are curious to look for your grades, please take the time to consider some reflective comments regarding this course and its assessment. As such, this course and the assessment methods

  • are not testing your general English knowledge; those who attended the course (and I am very happy to have met you!) realised that and I hope that you have gained knowledge and skills that will help you in your future academic and professional pursuits.
  • are related to academic English terminology that will facilitate your future research sharing with the international learning community
  • aspire to equip you with all necessary knowledge that will help you feel efficient and autonomous transnational professionals in your field

I hope I have put a little precious stone in this effort. Please check the tentative grades, as there are students who have only recently received their academic ID, and did not add their full names and IDs on their assignment 1 paper, making it difficult for me to check all details.

For those of you who did not receive a passing grade, if you have worked on assignment 1, you may keep your grade (up to 30%) and retake the exam part in September. In case you received an average of 4, this may not change to "pass 5" as this means that most part of the grade is from the collaborative work (30%) and not your personal efforts that should count for the rest of 70%.

In case there is no grade next to your ID, although you have participated in the assignment and exams, please, contact me via email chrlazo@cs.duth.gr

Newcomers that did not work on the collaborative assignment and did not recieve a passing mark from the exam, can retake the exams in September as a 100% OR work with another student on a collaborative project for the 30% part of the grade. This decision has to be made in good time, though.

I attach the pdf file with the grades, without names, but with your academic IDs.

I will submit the final grades in the system (Universis) on Monday.

Kind regards and best wishes for a great spring semester ahead!
